A Time for Leadership, Change and Honoring Our Best

As we pass into a new season, we pause to reflect on the many dynamic changes the real estate industry has experienced this year.

Back in March, arguably one of the most newsworthy events in our industry came with the first “e-HomeSale,” which resulted in more than $7 million in homes being sold on the Web by Prudential California Realty and Homebid.com.

In April we reported another industry-changing event with the alliance between America Online and Homestore.com. Their five-year $200 million content, e-commerce and distribution agreement to provide home and real estate content to several key AOL brands is one sure to be a hot story to watch in the future.

We here at National Relocation & Real Estate have changed quite a bit this year, too. We have a new look and fresher, more comprehensive stories that position us as America?s No. 1 real estate information news source ? and we?re only getting better.

Of course, technology has and will continue to be a major factor. Identifying organizations that have or potentially have the opportunity to significantly advance service delivery to our consumers will continue to be a major focus of our magazine. One such organization is eCommission, the highlight of this issue’s cover story (page 62).

eCommission offers a much-talked-about solution to commission financing, catching the eye of over 30,000 major brand real estate companies across the U.S. Read all about how CEO John Bearden has taken this Austin, Texas-based company from its beginnings in Canada over 10 years ago to its position today ? providing an important tool for Realtors? financial balance and business growth.

And speaking of business growth, we would like to take the opportunity to welcome many of you to our 11th Annual Real Estate Leadership Conference in New York City. Our breakout sessions, networking events and panel discussions are sure to be fantastic educational experiences that will offer exciting ideas to help grow your business, gain fresh insights and meet the “Who?s Who” of our industry.

Keeping up with the latest industry advances and newsworthy events is what we’re all about. But we realize also the importance of reaching out and thanking those in the industry who have touched other people’s lives and who have worked hard and dedicated their life to the real estate profession.

Bill Fox, chairman of Prudential Fox & Roach in Philadelphia, lives this message. That is why National Relocation & Real Estate is presenting him with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Leadership Conference. Bill has always gone above and beyond the call of duty in both his personal and professional life. From building his family’s century-old real estate business to fighting the daily challenges brought on by Huntington’s Disease, Bill is an inspiration. Please take a moment to read our tribute to him on page 47.

The bullet train of change the industry has seen this year doesn?t seem to be slowing down. And as we move forward, we will continue to take the most in-depth look at the latest changes. We invite you to continue trusting National Relocation & Real Estate as your source for the latest industry news, profiles and features.
