Record number of homebuyers register to find homes, get mortgages
RISMEDIA, Nov. 17?NeighborhoodScout, a Web-based neighborhood search engine for homebuyers, topped 100,000 unique visitors in October, generating a record number of requests from homebuyers to connect with real estate agents to see homes and for mortgage assistance. Five states topped the most-visited list: New York, California, Florida, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

NeighborhoodScout allows homebuyers to instantly find the neighborhoods that are best for them ? based on their own personal criteria ? whether they are moving across town or across the country. Homebuyers can describe their ideal neighborhood using criteria such as school quality, crime rate, house prices, the types of neighbors, and appreciation rates, for all 61,000 neighborhoods in the US.

Since its debut in late September 2002, NeighborhoodScout.com traffic has been increasing by nearly 10,000 unique visitors every month, demonstrating the growing adoption of the Internet as a valuable resource for simplifying a house-hunt and matching homebuyers to real estate professionals.

?With housing prices at all-time highs, homebuyers are eager to find the locations that offer the best values, or have attractive histories of housing appreciation, to better protect their investment,? says Andrew Schiller, creator of NeighborhoodScout. ?Time and again, consumers ask: where should I focus my house hunt? NeighborhoodScout answers that question.?

?Because of the unique value NeighborhoodScout provides homebuyers, we are finding that many are coming to us first, before they have connected with an agent or a mortgage provider,? Schiller says. ?This gives us the opportunity to service all of the homebuyer?s home purchase, mortgage and moving needs.?

?Buying a home is a major investment, but NeighborhoodScout is making it easier,? says Schiller. ?We?re empowering homebuyers to find their ideal neighborhoods and connecting them to the real estate and relocation professionals who can help them, in one seamless process that saves time, money and stress. Many of these homebuyers are also requesting mortgage assistance for their home purchase. This puts us in the sweet spot of the industry as many mortgage companies are looking to shift their loan mix towards home purchases and away from the dwindling refinance market.?
