More than 100 employees from seven Weichert Relocation offices participated
RISMEDIA, Nov. 17-From preparing meals at local food banks to bringing happiness to disadvantaged children, Weichert Relocation employees recently volunteered their time and talents to worthwhile causes throughout North America as part of the company?s CommunityCare Day. More than 100 employees from seven Weichert Relocation offices participated in this event.
?Every day we work to make a difference in the lives of relocating families, and it is particularly rewarding to bring a similar sense of comfort to people within our communities,? explained Aram Minnetian, president of Weichert Relocation. ?I?m proud of our colleagues? enthusiasm and continued support of this effort.?
Employees from Weichert Relocation?s headquarters in Morris Plains, New Jersey, spent the day hosting a children?s Halloween party in partnership with the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), a national organization that matches at-risk children with adult mentors. More than 20 volunteers assisted in setting up events, serving food and organizing children?s games.
In Chicago, employees joined in the fight against hunger by volunteering at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, where they provided invaluable assistance restocking warehouse shelves and sorting, packaging and preparing food for distribution to local food pantries.
More than 20 employees and family members from the Denver office spent the day at The Joy House, a transitional home for women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence. In addition to cooking meals, the group took on a wide range of tasks, including wiring, masonry, painting and general beautification projects around the home.
Employees from the Wilton, Connecticut office participated in the American Cancer Society?s ?Making Strides Against Breast Cancer? walk, a unique fundraising event that brings together patients, medical staff, corporations, civic organizations and community volunteers to raise awareness for and join together in the fight against breast cancer.
A group of more than 20 employees and family members from the Houston office worked to stock shelves and package over 7,000 pounds of food at the Houston Food Bank, helping the organization in its mission to feed the hungry within the community.
In the Boston office, employees volunteered their time at the Greater Boston Food Bank, the largest hunger relief organization in New England, to inspect, sort and package over 8,000 pounds of food for the city?s less fortunate.
The goodwill transcended borders as well. A group of employees from Weichert Relocation?s Calgary office gathered at the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank to battle hunger in the inner city by serving meals and preparing quality emergency food for those in need.
In addition to these volunteer efforts, employees from each office made a $1,000 donation to their selected organizations.
CommunityCare Day is held twice a year as part of Weichert Relocation?s ongoing CommunityCare program. Through this program, Weichert Relocation employees volunteer to support projects closely aligned with two of the company?s most prominent corporate objectives, helping families and improving communities. Plans are already underway for the next official CommunityCare Day, which will be held in spring 2004.
