Gibson explained how to engage employees in helping to drive diversity initiatives throughout the organization
RISMEDIA, May 18-Margaret Gibson, director of workplace diversity for Cendant Mobility, was a presenter at The Conference Board’s 2004 Annual Diversity Conference on April 28 in New York City.

The Conference Board is a leading business membership organization and is made up of over 2,500 enterprises in 60 countries. More than 150 CEOs address the board’s 12,000 meeting participants each year.

Gibson was one of two presenters in a session entitled, “Employee Engagement,” an interactive seminar that discussed how to engage employees at work, maximize potential and subsequently measure engagement. Gibson explained how to engage employees in helping to drive diversity initiatives throughout the organization. She gave examples of Cendant Mobility employees’ involvement with its own Diversity Advisory Council and employee networks that are providing information and workshops on professional development, balancing work/life and the importance of networking.

Gibson also explained that leading organizations understand that diversity goes beyond race and gender, and that culture is an important element. At Cendant Mobility, employees speak more than 48 different languages, and they help to educate the organization with cultural diversity through various ongoing “lunch & learn” sessions.

?This opportunity allowed me to provide concrete examples of how Cendant Mobility is leading the way in workplace diversity initiatives,” said Gibson. “I also came away with ideas on how to better leverage diversity for increased innovation, improved productivity and even greater contribution to the bottom line of our organization.”

Gibson has also been invited to present at The Conference Board’s Annual Diversity Conference in Chicago on June 10-11.
