Warren Buffett addresses real estate executives and agents
RISMedia, August 26, 2004 – HomeServices of America, Inc. recently held its annual leadership conference in Omaha, Nebraska. More than 160 executives attended the three-day event, along with 60 of HomeServices’ leading sales associates.

The highlight of the conference came when Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., spoke to HomeServices’ leadership group. Responding to questions from the group, Buffett commented, “There are a number of things I look for when deciding whether or not to purchase a company. One is relationships. What type of relationship does the company have with its people? With its partners? With its customers?
When I look at HomeServices and the great people that make up its core, I am confident that I made the right decision.” When asked about Berkshire’s exit strategy, Buffett said, “Business is like golf. There are par 3s and par 5s, easy holes and difficult holes. At Berkshire, we intend to play the entire course.”
HomeServices and its operating companies continue to develop value-added products to create and deliver an unparalleled customer experience throughout the home transaction process. Conference attendees discussed a wide variety of topics, including HomeServices’ key initiatives such as enhancing the company’s mortgage success rates, expanding its corporate relocation services, strengthening its partnerships with leading builders and developers and developing packaged solutions to address consumer needs.
