Real estate agents specializing in the booming resort and second home market have an educational opportunity
RISMEDIA, March 9 ? Real estate agents specializing in the booming resort and second home market have an educational opportunity in the Resort and Second-Home Markets course offered by National Association of Realtors Business Specialties.

A new NAR study shows that second-home sales are surging with a record of 2.82 million second home sales in 2004, up 16.3 percent from 2.42 million in 2003. This 2005 NAR Profile of Second Home Buyers reveals that while buyers have various reasons for purchasing a second home, the ways in which buyers search for and purchase additional properties does not widely vary. According to the profile, 83% of vacation home buyers and 84% of investment home buyers used a real estate agent in their search.

The two-day Resort and Second-Home Market course initially focuses on the key skills required to succeed in the second-home market, then broadens its scope. Additional modules identify who the resort and second home specialists? customers and clients are by focusing on profiles, demographics, motivations and forms of ownership; how to prepare and act when laws that directly affect business in the niche are scheduled to change; how to handle the media?rather than being handled by it; and tax laws and their implications on second-homeownership and investment.

?Demand for a course like this has been increasing with the growth of these markets,? says NAR Resort Specialties Manager Cher? LaRose-Senne. ?The intricacies of these markets demand specialized education, and Resort and Second-Home Markets fills the demand.?

The course has been offered in several markets around the country since 2003 and is currently scheduled in Naples, FL April 2005, in Hilton Head, SC September 2005 and immediately prior to the NAR Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA October 2005.

Resort and Second-Home Markets is also creditable toward the elective course requirement for the ABR designation. To obtain more information the course and to register go to http://www.coursecalendar.com.
