Dave and Gail Liniger presented with the Ballington and Maud Booth Award for Distinguished Service to Humanity
RISMEDIA, June 23, 2006?Dave and Gail Liniger, chairman and vice chairman and cofounders of RE/MAX International were presented with the Ballington and Maud Booth Award for Distinguished Service to Humanity during ceremonies at the recent national conference of Volunteers of America in Portland, Oregon.

The Linigers were recognized for their outstanding leadership and commitment to making a difference in their community by donation of use of their private land for charitable events and subsequent sponsorships that have enabled Volunteers of America’s Colorado affiliate to raise funds for its many vital programs that serve at-risk children and youth, low-income seniors, families and people with disabilities.

“We wish to acknowledge the Linigers for their humanitarian efforts and for the many causes they so fervently support,” said Charles Gould, national president and chief executive officer of Volunteers of America. “Their generous contributions have had a direct and positive impact on Volunteers of America and the people we serve, and we are grateful for their support.”

The Volunteers of America Booth award is named after Ballington and Maud Booth, who founded the organization in 1896 with a vision and a promise to “go wherever we are needed and do whatever comes to hand.”

The Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine, Texas, was also honored at the event with the Good Samaritan Award in Philanthropy for its effort to help more than 70 physically and mentally challenged victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Pulitzer prize-winning New Orleans newspaper The Times Picayune received the 2006 Empathy Award for its service to the community and excellence in reporting about social issues, including the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina on the citizens of New Orleans.

Since 1896, Volunteers of America, a national, nonprofit, faith-based organization has been dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. Through thousands of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America helps nearly 2 million people in over 400 communities.
