Youngster wins Century 21 Dream Clubhouse
RISMEDIA, July 11, 2006?The fifth-annual CENTURY 21 Mascot Home Run Derby competition was a hit yesterday at Major League Baseball(R) All-Star FanFest at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.
Devin Hoffman, 9, from the Boys & Girls Club of Western, Pa., won his very own Century 21 Dream Clubhouse when TC of the Minnesota Twins captured the 2006 Century 21 Mascot Home Run Derby title for the second consecutive year.
The Century 21 System’s feathered mascot duo, Nestor and Houser, awarded Hoffman with the grand prize following the conclusion of the annual exhibition of mascot home run hitting might.
Similar in format to the Century 21 Home Run Derby competition, which was slated for Monday, July 10, at PNC Park, each of the eight mascots were matched with a lucky Boys & Girls Club child representative. Each child participant also received four tickets to attend the 2006 Century 21 Home Run Derby.
Through two high-stakes rounds of home run hitting competition, the eight mascots slipped, stumbled and fumbled about in a valiant attempt to capture the 2006 Century 21 Mascot Home Run Derby title and win their respective youth partner the Century 21 Dream Clubhouse.
“The Century 21 Mascot Home Run Derby was a blast for baseball fans of all ages,” said Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder and MLB All-Star Jason Bay. “There is nothing more fun to watch than power-hitting mascots and smiling kids cheering them on.”
