As we move into the holiday season, offer these helpful holiday staging tips to your sellers
RISMEDIA, November 2, 2006? Tis nearing the season to be jolly, but if your home is on the market during the holidays, you may want to follow the ?less is more? ideology.
Usually during the months of November and December, homeowners adorn their homes with decorations. But, if you?re selling your house, Bill Thomas, president of Prudential Zack Shore Properties says you may want to do just the opposite. He offers five tips for homeowners:
? Keep it simple ? In a potential buyer?s mind, decorations represent clutter and they want to see the square footage. So, put a wreath on the front door, but don?t display a Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the front door
? Put up only one Christmas tree ? Don?t make it a big one. The tree should not take up too much square footage
? Don?t display gifts under the tree ? Gifts are a theft risk and can look too cluttered.
? Put clear lights in bushes or trees ? Lights are fine as long as they are small, tasteful white lights. Don?t put them on the house or around the windows. It could help buyers notice the nail and staple holes used to hang them.
? Do not entertain ? Have the holiday get-togethers at another relative?s house. With entertaining comes stress.
