On the heels of helping build homes for Habitat for Humanity while at November's NARdiGRAS Convention in New Orleans, the team at ProspectsPLUS! organized a "Coats for Kids" campaign to purchase coats for children living in the recovery district there.
Industry leaders and corporate friends quickly jumped in to help raise the $5,000 needed to buy coats for children at McDonough 35 High School and Bethune Elementary School.
Mrs. Johnson, guidance counselor at McDonough, and Mrs. Love, Bethune's social worker, were instrumental in coordinating the effort and identifying children with the greatest need. More than 400 coats were shipped and delivered just before the holiday break. "What a blessing and a gift for these children who so need our help," shared Mrs. Johnson.
ProspectsPLUS! President Jim Morton thanked everyone whose generosity made the campaign such a heartwarming success. Corporate Marketing Director Julie Escobar also was thrilled at the response, joining Mr. Morton and the entire ProspectsPLUS! team in thanking Ken Bennett, Gord Gerrie, Floyd Wickman, Steve Linn, Judy Ladeur, Dave Beson, Jim and Muriel Schimpf, John Vigue, Dave and Mary LaBell, Cy Cawthorn, Tommy Tipton, Peter and Constance Borho, and CSC Management Group for their assistance in making the project possible. Special thanks, as well, to Tony Shereda of QMI Marketing Group for his unwavering commitment to securing the best possible coats and prices from manufacturers across the country. The contributions of all of these incredible people–coupled with the ProspectsPLUS! corporate donation-means a warmer winter for many children.
"We also thank the recovery project coordinators and Habitat for Humanity organizers for the incredible experience," Ms. Escobar said. "We enjoyed meeting new friends from all over the world who were there building alongside us, as well as some of the families who will benefit from the efforts of the NAR attendees. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson, Ms. Love and all of our friends who made the coat drive possible. The ability to give back is both rewarding and enriching to everyone involved."
