Leading Realtor to Discuss Internet Marketing on Webinar Tomorrow

RISMEDIA, May 1, 2007-If you talk to enough Realtors about Internet marketing you soon discover there are 1) as many different points of view about how it all works as Realtors you talk to and 2) a learning curve. And then every now and then you run across that unique Realtor that has really mastered the Internet and is also out on the cutting edge of that particular learning curve.

One such high powered Realtors is Barbara Simmons. When you walk into her office in Southern California you see her sign, "Technology will not replace the agent, the agent with technology will." Among other things, she has solved the question, "What is the nature of an Internet lead?" According to Simmons it is as simple as, "Internet leads are people who don't want to give you information but you have to get it from them somehow."

How many Realtors have you talked to who say, when it comes to marketing on the Internet, "Oh, I just don't have time for such and such" or, "I'm a Realtor not an Internet nerd!" or, best of all, "Internet leads are no good." Share these points of view with Simmons and she may very gracefully point out that as 80% of the new business is coming from the Net, one who expresses such concerns might want to start considering another line of work. After all Simmons (and her team of over 40 buyers agents) does over $200 million a year in production and 98% of it comes from the Net.

We have heard for years about the so called paradigm shift from the traditional methods of doing real estate to the new Internet model. Books are being written for consumers about how to use the Internet to check credit, get pre-qualified for a loan, how to search for homes on the Internet. A useful metaphor is to imagine the Internet Real Estate consumer is on the Net going about 65 miles an hour and the average Realtor marketing on the Net is just getting up to about 25 miles per hour.
