RISMEDIA, June 20, 2007-Think back on your last buying or selling transaction – how many decisions do you suppose you made through the course of that process? 10? 20? One hundred? More than one hundred?
The truth is, we make possibly thousands of decisions every day, from whether to have cereal or eggs for breakfast to whether we should drop the price on that four-bedroom today or wait another week. Some decisions are easy; we don’t even think about them. However, others are more difficult and those in the real estate industry or a similar high-risk sales career face a special challenge. In this business, the thousands of decisions you make throughout the life of one real estate transaction ultimately all directly affect whether you will bring that transaction to a successful close or whether you will take the sign down and walk away empty-handed.
While the less-important decisions are often made in a snap, it’s the bigger ones that often cause us to pause. Those are the ones that will most certainly take us down a path to brilliant success or crushing failure; and sometimes the fear of taking the wrong path can be utterly paralyzing.
Enter Philip Schoewe, of Lubbock, Texas. While he is currently a broker in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas, real estate training is where his passion lies as evidenced by the fact that he’s been doing it in one form or another for the past 30 years. Phillip’s attitude about decision making is probably 180 degrees in the opposite direction of the norm; his motto could very well be “Just Do It!”
“But how?” you may ask. “How do you make an important decision so quickly when so much is at stake?” Schoewe addresses just that question and more in this week’s iSucceed/RISMedia Business Training and Development call, “How to Make a Business Decision in One Minute Or Less.” Hosted by iSucceed Product Manager Kelly Kelley, the interview will be available for one week only at www.isucceed.com/rismedia.
In this exclusive interview Schoewe explains:
- The paralysis and fear that come with the anticipation of making an important decision and how to move past it.
- The true meaning of the word Knowledge and how it can empower your decision-making abilities.
- How a bad decision can actually turn out good.
- How to measure the results of your decisions.

On his philosophy as an instructor, Philip says, “I do not really teach, rather I reach…I reach across the instructor/learner barrier to discover what the learner wants to learn. Then together we transfer the knowledge by sharing its application so that thoroughly applied learning is strategically connected to vivid demonstrations. This form of education is selected so that pertinent facts can be better remembered.”
