RISMEDIA, Sept. 12, 2007-Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, one of Northern California’s leading providers of real estate services, unveiled a sweeping redesign of all of its marketing materials to incorporate “green” printing practices. The newly redesigned collateral includes listing presentation materials, buyer materials, direct mail, print advertising, company and agent online materials and Web site designs used by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and its 4,300 sales associates from Lake Tahoe to the Monterey Bay Region.
According to Anne Treacy, vice president of marketing for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, it was important to the company’s executives and agents that the redesign incorporate “innovative, environmentally responsible practices.”
All of the marketing materials are being printed on Forest Stewardship Council (or FSC) certified paper from Mohawk Paper, which uses 100% wind power produced electricity. FSC sets principles, criteria and standards for the wood fiber industry that span economic, social and environmental concerns. Mohawk Paper is known for reducing emissions, using raw materials responsibly and offering a wide range of recycled papers.
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s decision to use “green” printing methods for its new marketing materials in Northern California means that in the coming year:
- More than 129 trees will be saved,
- 375 pounds of water-born waste will not be generated,
- 55,050 gallons of wastewater flow will be eliminated,
- 6,090 pounds of solid waste will not be generated,
- Nearly 12,000 pounds of greenhouse gases will not be generated,
- 91.8 million BTUs of energy will not be used,
- Nearly 20,772 pounds of air emissions will not be generated, and
- Enough crude oil will be saved to drive the average car for 22,500 miles.
Treacy said that more and more agents are moving towards “printing on demand” either within their office, home or at the local print shop. The new design is less color intensive, offering print on-demand flexibility and ultimately, reducing waste. The new design also allows agents to ensure that the downloadable materials available on the company’s intranet mirror the professionally printed materials available in its offices.
Today’s announcement is the culmination of nearly nine months of planning, research, focus group testing and production of the revamped materials. The “green” marketing effort is the latest move by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage to incorporate environmentally responsible business practices into its daily operations in Northern California.
