RISMEDIA, Sept. 25, 2007-Willard Christopher “Will” Smith, Jr. was born on this date in 1968. A Golden Globe and a two time Academy Award-nominated American actor, Smith is also a multiple Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist. He is one of a small group of people who have enjoyed success in three major entertainment media in the United States: feature films, television, and the music industry. Newsweek has named him the most powerful actor on the planet.

Smith’s most notable television role was that of “Will” Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In his film work, his notable roles include Agent J in Men in Black and Men in Black II, Muhammad Ali in Ali, as well as his role in the blockbuster Independence Day and more recently as Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness with his son Jaden Smith.

Some memorable quotes from this triple-threat include:

“I don’t know what my calling is, but I want to be here for a bigger reason. I strive to be like the greatest people who have ever lived.”

“I had to focus and create a character in Bagger Vance, not just do my ‘Will Smith’ thing and get paid.”

“If it was something that I really committed myself to, I don’t think there’s anything that could stop me becoming President of the United States.”

“It’s quite highly possible that I have peaked. I mean, I just can’t imagine what else I could do beyond this. It’s really a bittersweet kind of feeling.”

“Money and success don’t change people; they merely amplify what is already there.”

“On learning to swim: I’m too big to have some woman hold my stomach and say ‘Now kick your feet.’”

“Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.”

“Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.”
