RISMEDIA, Oct. 12, 2007-Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Gillespie promoted Charlie Young to become chief operating officer. In his new role, Young will direct the operations, education, mortgage, field services programs and communication between Coldwell Banker® corporate headquarters, regional offices and its nearly 4,000-office affiliate network around the world. Young, who has more than 20 years business management, field operations and marketing experience, begins his new role effective today while also overseeing marketing until his replacement is named.

“Charlie is extremely well respected by broker/owners within the Coldwell Banker system and by our corporate staff,” Gillespie said. “He has revamped the marketing department during his three years and his strategic thinking and management style have had positive impact on the servicing side as well. He has integrated marketing concepts into all facets of our business. In today’s challenging real estate industry where Coldwell Banker brokers face intense competition and a changed market, I can’t think of a better person within our organization to provide them with day-to-day leadership than Charlie.”

Young replaces Sherry Chris who yesterday was appointed by Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC parent company, Realogy Corporation, to head its new Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate company.

Young joined Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC in 2004 and spearheaded several innovative programs at Coldwell Banker that served as industry firsts while quickly establishing himself as one of the real estate industry’s most recognized executives. He helped re-launch award-winning www.coldwellbanker.com and guided the debut coldwellbankerpreviews.com as a stand-alone Web site to support Coldwell Banker Previews International®, the brand’s high-end marketing program.

Young, a frequent speaker at industry events, helped Coldwell Banker become the first national full-service real estate brand to utilize streaming video online and apply downloadable widget technology for the brand’s Personal Retriever® search service. Under his leadership, Coldwell Banker was also the first to have community amenities included on its online mapping feature and also the first to have a presence on the popular virtual world of SecondLife.com. These and other programs propelled Inman News to name Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC as the 2007 Innovator of the Year in the brokerage/franchise category.

Prior to joining Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC, Young gained significant real estate field operations experience when he served as a vice president for then Cendant Mortgage (now PHH Mortgage) where he worked closely with brokers in the Coldwell Banker, CENTURY 21® and ERA® systems to implement private-labeled mortgage programs.

Young has also held executive positions at Frequency Marketing Inc., Foote, Cone & Belding Direct, Bell Atlantic (Verizon) Directory Services, Gillespie Advertising and the New Jersey Nets.
