RISMEDIA, Oct. 30, 2007-Despite the on going legal battle with the 10 MLSNI Shareholder Associations of REALTORS® over the proposed consolidation between MAP-MLS and MLSNI, cooperation is the order of the day. Both organizations agreed to institute a mirrored database, which allows each of them to display the entire combined inventory of both entities on each other’s MLS browsers.
Bud Fogel, CEO of MAP-MLS, and Brad Tertell, vice president and general manager MLSNI, agree that dynaConnections, MLSNI’s vendor, and MarketLinx, MAP-MLS’s vendor, as well as the staff’s from both organizations, have done an excellent job coordinating the effort. They also agree this is great first step forward and is a huge benefit for the entire Realtor community in Northern Illinois. By instituting the mirrored database the agents can use their system of choice and know that all inventory from both organizations is being searched. Both leaders also feel this initiative is a precursor to what will need to be accomplished once the two organizations come together. “We look at as is we are one step ahead of the game” both leaders state.
Besides the mirrored database, both organizations along with their respective vendors have instituted a Single Point of Entry (SPOE). This optional initiative allows the common members of both MLS’s to do their Add/Edit functions on their system of choice, while still maintaining the ability to use the other functionality of either system. Both MLS systems send and received 15 minute feeds so once a listing is entered into or edited through the SPOE it shows up on the other almost immediately. The offices that have “opted in” to the program report this initiative has saved them countless hours of staff time by not having to do the double entry.
So contrary to what many may hear, there is some good news and very innovative things coming out of Chicago.
