How Agents Can Be Great in 2008

RISMEDIA, Nov. 8, 2007-Speaking before a live audience at the downtown Seattle Sheraton Hotel, in a presentation carried around the world via satellite and Internet, RE/MAX Co-Founder and Chairman Dave Liniger told agents how they can thrive in the current market. His straightforward message was simple, “We must work smarter, add new skills and spend more time face-to-face with our customers.”

“Supercharge Your Career in 2008,” was held on the 13th anniversary of the RE/MAX Satellite Network, which broadcast the event ‘live’ to thousands of RE/MAX offices and agents’ homes across North America. The Supercharge program was also available to RE/MAX affiliates worldwide as a ‘streamed’ video on the Internet.

Liniger recognized that this market is a challenge, but one he had seen a few times in his 40 year career in real estate. He told his agent audience that “the market you see this year is the market you’re likely to see next year. Because it’s going to be a buyers’ market for the next couple of years, we have to change our tactics, and create a specific business plan for this market.”

Liniger’s comments were echoed by other real estate professionals, who appeared both in person and on videotape. Experts like Brian Buffini, Judy Ladeur, Steve Murray, Howard Brinton, Richard Robbins and Stefan Swanepoel all said the market is not likely to change quickly and those who can adapt will survive to see the next surge in home sales.

The event’s keynote speaker, Alison Levine, was the leader of the first all female expedition to Mt. Everest. Levine told the story of her mountain climbing experience to make the point that great obstacles can be overcome with the right preparation and determination.

Liniger completed his remarks by emphasizing that he has “seen booms and busts come and go, but an individual’s response to the event always determined the outcome. RE/MAX Associates have a tremendous competitive advantage with innovative technology tools and years of experience. You have the ability to be great in 2008.”
