RISMEDIA, August 31, 2007–Each year, Success Strategies Institute (SSi) of Newport Beach, California, puts on its annual Success Summit, which more than 1,000 professionals in the real estate and financial industries attend with the objective of giving their business an edge. Over the last few years, the SSi Foundation has used the event as a platform to give deserving charities an edge, too. This year, the Success Summit benefited Living without Limits, the foundation created and inspired by Ben Comen.Ben Comen is a cross country runner who has refused to be stopped by his cerebral palsy. Though his condition affects his balance, and though he typically finishes last in his races, Ben has never been one to stand on the sidelines or give up on the course he’s chosen. Through all his efforts, he has been surrounded by teammates who have cheered him on and family members who have supported him in every ambition.
Ben’s way of “giving back” was to, along with his family, establish the Ben Comen, Living Without Limits Fund of the Foothills Community Foundation. The Fund seeks to provide information and resources to challenged athletes, and to recognize their accomplishments and the accomplishments of those who support them.
At SSi’s Success Summit, held August 7 – 10, attendees got an intimate look at the truly irrepressible human spirit behind Living Without Limits when they viewed a short documentary about Ben’s cross country experiences, followed by a surprise personal appearance by Ben himself. Within less than an hour, SSi and the Success Summit attendees had raised over $12,000 for Living Without Limits!
“Ben Comen is an inspiration to all of us,” says Tom Ferry, SSi Founder and CEO, and founder of the SSi Foundation, the mission of which is to primarily benefit children. “We are thrilled to know that the funds raised at the Success Summit will go to supporting young challenged athletes. I have a feeling that what we raised will be part of making new heroes for all of us to look up to.”
