RISMEDIA, April 9, 2008-PODS Inc. announced that Tom Ryan has been named president and chief executive officer. Ryan succeeds the co-founder of the company, Pete Warhurst, and brings a 20-year track record of successfully growing and managing businesses.
PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) is one of the most recognized brands in the storage and moving industry. Charlie Ogburn, executive director and Global Head of Corporate Investments for Arcapita, said, “Tom is very well known to Arcapita. His extensive background and history of successful management are the right fit for PODS, and we are excited to see the company progress under his leadership.”
Ryan’s appointment follows the acquisition of PODS in December 2007 by affiliates of Arcapita Inc.
Ryan’s experience base includes growth companies, turnaround situations and franchise relationships. His career spans 20 years of consumer and industrial experience, with successful assignments at Allied Signal, Ingersoll Rand and most recently, Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company. In his last role as Vice President and General Manager of Performance Materials, Ryan drove exceptional revenue growth over approximately two years. Prior to Johns Manville, Ryan was the President of the IR Retail Solutions division of Ingersoll Rand Corporation.
“Pete and his team revolutionized the storage and moving industry by originating and executing the concept of portable on demand storage,” Ryan said. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to manage a business with such enormous potential, and I’m looking forward to the road ahead.”
Pete Warhurst served as President and CEO since co-founding the business in 1998 and will help facilitate the transition. “Tom Ryan is an excellent choice to lead the next phase of PODS growth, and I wish him well in this new venture,” Warhurst said. “He has experience across a broad range of disciplines and is exactly what the company needs to continue on its current path of success.” Warhurst will continue to serve PODS as a member of the board of directors.
