Oakwood Worldwide Donates Hundreds of Uniforms to Local Charities to Benefit Work Programs

RISMEDIA, April 14, 2008-Oakwood Worldwide, a global temporary housing provider, announced it has donated nearly 700 previously-worn uniforms in excellent condition to local and national charities in seven U.S. cities. Hundreds of skirts, pants, shirts, jackets and ties will benefit local return-to-work programs in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sunnyvale, Calif., San Jose, Calif., Chicago and Seattle.

“During our nearly 50 years in business, Oakwood has always given back to the local communities we serve,” says Chris Ahearn, Oakwood’s SVP, Sales and Marketing. “This is another example of our ongoing commitment to being a corporate good citizen, and we hope that the recipients of these donated uniforms will benefit from our gift.”

Oakwood’s donation has a retail value of nearly $31,000, and the receiving charities include The Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries, The Arc San Francisco, San Jose-based Parca, Fountain Valley, Calif.-based Working Wardrobes, Jobs for Youth Chicago, and Seattle, Wash.-based Northwest Center.

The 14 contributing Oakwood properties are located in metropolitan Washington, D.C., Arlington, Va., Gaithersburg, Maryland, Crystal City, Va., Falls Church, Va., Chicago, Ill., Geary Courtyard, San Francisco, Calif., Mountain View, Calif., San Jose, Calif., Seattle, Wash., Bellevue, Wash. In addition, the four Los Angeles-based properties include Toluca Hills, Woodland Hills, Marina del Rey and Long Beach.
