RISMEDIA, April 28, 2008-According to the latest ‘Profile America’ brought to you by the U.S. Census Bureau, April is not only the kickoff for home improvement season but also National Decorating Month. With the market for new homes down considerably, many are deciding to fix up their current house and others are taking advantage of the good weather to accomplish long delayed tasks.
The idea is that money spent on fixing up houses is a wise investment, whether it’s a simple paint job or an entire addition. Remodeling a bathroom is the most popular improvement, followed by new carpeting and updating the kitchen. Homeowners do a lot of their own work but rely on professionals when it comes to putting on a roof or laying down carpeting. The cost for all these improvements comes to $136 billion a year.
