RISMedia, June 23, 2008 – RISMedia, a leader in real estate information systems, announced today its development of RISMedia’s Top 5 in Real Estate, scheduled for launch in the fall of 2008. RISMedia’s Top 5 in Real Estate is being designed expressly for those real estate agents who are most informationally dedicated. Real estate agents who participate in the Top 5 in Real Estate program will be identified to both consumers and the media as, “Leading real estate professionals providing leading real estate information.”

As they learn how Top 5 in Real Estate will benefit both consumers and themselves through RISMedia’s rich informational resources and backing, real estate agents will be invited to see if they qualify for the program in the coming months.

Qualification criteria for the Top 5 in Real Estate will be based upon several criteria including experience, production, commitment to providing information to consumers and community service.

RISMedia-while making available relevant, topical and timely real estate information for nearly 30 years-acknowledges the fact that providing leading real estate information to consumers is not a professional practice that all real estate agents are consumed by, comfortable with or willing to assume. RISMedia does believe, however, that there is a meaningful percentage of top-producing real estate agents who will first recognize and then be committed to meeting the consumer need to receive expanded, customized and contextualized real estate information. These are the real estate professionals who will find the Top 5 in Real Estate experience an invaluable addition to their career.

According to John Featherston, President and CEO of RISMedia, “A greater commitment among real estate professionals to meet the increasing informational interests and demands of consumers is needed now more than ever. Regrettably, many consumers perceive that real estate agents are principally only transaction-to-transaction oriented. Surveyed consumers indicate that they believe many real estate agents are more committed to personal promotion than to information promotion. It is to the benefit of our entire industry that these perceptions begin to change-this can only take place by strengthening our profession’s commitment to meeting the informational needs of consumers.”

“The Top 5 in Real Estate program will complement and not compete with any other real estate organization or association,” Featherston added. “This is because Top 5 in Real Estate will never be a real estate company, real estate franchise, real estate brand or referral network-nor will it post or display off- or online listings of homes for sale.”
