RISMedia, June 23, 2008 – RISMedia, a leader in real estate information systems, announced today its development of RISMedia’s Top 5 in Real Estate, scheduled for launch in the fall of 2008. RISMedia’s Top 5 in Real Estate is being designed expressly for those real estate agents who are most informationally dedicated. Real estate agents who participate in the Top 5 in Real Estate program will be identified to both consumers and the media as, “Leading real estate professionals providing leading real estate information.”
As they learn how Top 5 in Real Estate will benefit both consumers and themselves through RISMedia’s rich informational resources and backing, real estate agents will be invited to see if they qualify for the program in the coming months.
Qualification criteria for the Top 5 in Real Estate will be based upon several criteria including experience, production, commitment to providing information to consumers and community service.
RISMedia-while making available relevant, topical and timely real estate information for nearly 30 years-acknowledges the fact that providing leading real estate information to consumers is not a professional practice that all real estate agents are consumed by, comfortable with or willing to assume. RISMedia does believe, however, that there is a meaningful percentage of top-producing real estate agents who will first recognize and then be committed to meeting the consumer need to receive expanded, customized and contextualized real estate information. These are the real estate professionals who will find the Top 5 in Real Estate experience an invaluable addition to their career.
According to John Featherston, President and CEO of RISMedia, “A greater commitment among real estate professionals to meet the increasing informational interests and demands of consumers is needed now more than ever. Regrettably, many consumers perceive that real estate agents are principally only transaction-to-transaction oriented. Surveyed consumers indicate that they believe many real estate agents are more committed to personal promotion than to information promotion. It is to the benefit of our entire industry that these perceptions begin to change-this can only take place by strengthening our profession’s commitment to meeting the informational needs of consumers.”
Featherston further stated that, “The real estate agents involved in RISMedia’s Top 5 in Real Estate program will have an opportunity to significantly enhance relationships with, and their value to, consumers. We believe that disseminating our valuable RISMedia real estate content to agents involved in this program will also significantly increase their productivity.”
“The Top 5 in Real Estate program will complement and not compete with any other real estate organization or association,” Featherston added. “This is because Top 5 in Real Estate will never be a real estate company, real estate franchise, real estate brand or referral network-nor will it post or display off- or online listings of homes for sale.”
RISMedia’s recognizable, appreciated and consistent role as an industry supporter in terms of informational resources and systems, has led to full support for the Top 5 in Real Estate concept thus far, said Featherston. “This concept has been in the works for 18 months,” he explained. “The overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received is exactly why we expect involvement by real estate agents from all real estate companies throughout North America.”
“RISMedia appreciates all the support and invaluable input we have received from hundreds of top real estate professionals during the ongoing development of this program. We’d like to say this program is ‘of the industry, by the industry, and for the industry,’” Featherston added. “The Top 5 in Real Estate is also in direct response to the encouragement of countless industry leaders and RISMedia clients who have asked our organization to support the real estate industry’s need to combat, both online and off-line, other media companies who consistently and relentlessly marginalize the value of real estate industry professionals.”
“What excites me the most,” Featherston continued, “is that we are making available real estate content to real estate agents who have the most contact and influence with real estate consumers. Unfortunately, until now, there were few if any effective and efficient methods by which a top-producing agent or their team could keep pace with the consumers’ insatiable desire for real estate information. It is unrealistic and would be unfair to expect real estate agents, or most brokerages for that matter, to employ the staff of full-time real estate writers, editors and producers that would be necessary to provide the personalized, relevant, print, online and video real estate content that will now be available to them through the Top 5 in Real Estate program. We are confident that the more leading real estate agents come to learn of the Top 5 in Real Estate value offering in the coming months, the more they will enthusiastically shift the means by which they engage the consumer.
Specifically, RISMedia predicts that an increasing number of real estate agents will leave behind many of the traditional, and in some cases, outdated, strategies they currently employ, such as ineffective farming, prospecting and personal promotion. Such strategies, in fact, often counterproductively and unwittingly trivialize the importance of real estate and subsequently the agent, said Featherston. Forward-thinking real estate agents will instead turn to an opportunity to become associated with vital, vibrant and consumer-riveting real estate content.
