MRIS, August 11, 2008-Today’s savvy real estate agent knows the importance of effective communications. The days of snail mail and pay phones are long gone, and your customer expects replies to their messages to be fast. That is why agents carry cell phones and/or Web-enabled devices to check e-mail. Agents know their customers are unhappy when they have to wait. Some agents don’t realize that this applies to website communication too. The Web sites must have a way for prospects to contact you and provide for immediate follow up.
The most common way is through a contact page that allows visitors to your site to send you an e-mail. If you don’t handle that first contact from a prospect expeditiously, the chances are that it will be your last contact. To assist you with these website initiated communications, many sites include an auto-responder. Auto-responders are simply an instantaneous, automated reply to e-mails you receive. When selecting a website vendor, make sure an auto-responder is included.
MRIS offers two websites that contain auto-responders, ActiveAgent and ActiveAgent Professional. Both sites contain pre-written, generic messages, with the option to edit the content or create your own unique message. Be sure to include a timeframe in your reply stating when you will contact them, and stick to it. If your e-mail states that you will respond within one business day and it takes you three, your prospect has already lost confidence in you and will move on. Save time, keep control, use auto-responders.
