RISMEDIA, August 12, 2008-Residents, community groups and such local businesses as Diane Turton, Realtors will honor the men and women serving in America’s military during the 31st Anniversary of the Jackson Day celebration.
“Support Our Troops” is the theme for this year’s Jackson Day, which will be held on Saturday, September 6. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the annual event that will begin with a parade at noon. The parade will end at Jackson Park on Kierych Memorial Drive, in Jackson, New Jersey, where, there will be live performances, rides, games, activities for children of all ages, and a wide variety of food. The finale features a fireworks display that starts at 9:15 p.m.
Jackson Day participants are asked to bring personal care items that will be collected and sent to America’s military personnel. According to Jackson Township’s Recreation Department, large bins will be place near the park entrance and around the grounds. Visitors can also contribute new DVDs, decks of playing cards, video and computer games.
“Sales associates from Diane Turton, Realtors’ Jackson office are working to make this a very memorable celebration,” said Diane Turton, the residential real estate firm’s president and broker of record. “Come and enjoy the fun, stay all day and bring useful items for our troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and places around the world.”
According to the company, Diane Turton, Realtors’ Jackson office is creating a special exhibit with hands-on activities and information about the local real estate market and home financing options. Besides face painting and giveaway items, children can enter a drawing contest. The child who creates the most fun, imaginative or detailed picture of a house will win a prize.
The exhibit is just one of over 100 attractions or food vendors to sample. Live music begins at 3:30 p.m. with a performance by Rocksplosion!, which is the rock star tribute show featuring the biggest rock stars portrayed by the best impersonators. At 6:30 p.m., the Bandstand band will play top hits from the 1970s.
Many volunteers and local groups are working with the event chairman Mark Seda, Jackson’s Mayor, and co-chairs Steve Eisenstein, Township’s recreation director, and CiCi Seda, wife of the Mayor. The rain date for Jackson Day is Sunday, September 7.
