RISMEDIA, August 25, 2008-For the final part of this three-part series, it’s all about getting the word out-information on you, your business and what you have to offer. Here are the final four techniques to help you build a solid online presence:
7. Build profiles. It’s not good enough to just build links on other people’s community websites. Start a “group” on that site; build a presence. Online marketing is like being a talk-show host-it is the personality of your message-rather than its correctness-that gets people to click through. When others can view your recent comments, bookmarked favorites, etc., on a profile that you have on another site-such as facebook.com, digg.com, associatedcontent.com-they feel like they know you, and they are more likely to call you or fill out an online contact form.
8. Share the wealth. With things changing so quickly, keeping information to yourself is pointless. Tell the world while it is still relevant; become the source of relevant information.
9. Participate on other websites. While you should put your best stuff on your own website, you can also get a lot of traffic by joining the discussion (with relevant comments, not commercials) on other people’s busy websites.
10. Offer online profiles. Like the forums at RISMedia.com, you can offer a way for your visitors to become participants on your website. Give them a reason-appeal to them emotionally, be of service and solicit the same from them.
We like to communicate with each other, and that is what the Internet and social media marketing are all about.
