RISMEDIA, Sept. 18, 2008-Hotpads.com, a leading map-based housing search service, announced that it has partnered with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide listings to the department’s National Housing Locator (NHL).

The service is activated when a State of Emergency is declared and functions as a tool for displaced citizens to find both temporary and permanent rental homes. The NHL is used to assist victims of all natural emergencies, including those declared by the President, as well as local disasters.

“We are proud to provide our listings to HUD’s NHL so that victims of natural disasters like Hurricane Ike will be able to find a safe place to call home as quickly as possible,” said Hotpads.com Co-founder Doug Pope. “Our thoughts are with the thousands of our fellow citizens who have been displaced, or lost their home, due to Hurricane Ike. We sincerely hope that the victims of this disaster will be able to find housing more easily with this new service and that it will ease their burden in this uncertain time.”
