times-square-webRISMEDIA, April 16, 2009-When reaching for a paper towel to wipe a spill, or a napkin to dab the mouth or even a tissue to wipe a nose, most people don’t consider the vast tree harvesting needed to produce these everyday household products.

The advent of Earth Day (April 22) provides an ideal time to think about exactly where our paper is sourced. As an advocate for the very trees that keep the Earth healthy, Marcal Paper Products, LLC, one of the nation’s oldest major manufacturers of household recycled tissue paper products – recently unveiled a real urban jungle in New York’s Times Square. The grove of trees sprouting from the city’s center is meant to call on the public to join its campaign to save one million trees.

A Small, Easy Step to a Greener Earth(TM) – Celebrate the Value of Trees… Act to Preserve Them

‘Going green’ and making decisions that positively impact the environment aren’t difficult to do, and Marcal’s Times Square forest demonstrates that by showcasing a literal experience about the benefits of using recycled products and ‘going green.’ Visitors can wander through the jungle, gather facts about recycling, see the trees saved by choosing paper made from recycled paper and, share the small steps they are taking to improve and help protect the environment.

“Public awareness of the effects our actions have on the environment has increased significantly in recent years,” said Tim Spring, CEO of Marcal. “Since 1950 we’ve been manufacturing products from recycled paper, Marcal has helped to save trees and reduce landfill waste. This campaign to save one million trees is a natural extension of our green heritage.”
