RISMEDIA, July 2009-Hopefully, you’re actively reaching out to your SOI with Top 5’s weekly Real Estate Social Networking System articles. Here’s a way to take it a step further…to Facebook!
As you know, the first way to implement the Real Estate Social Networking System is by forwarding the e-mail to your SOI. Now, using Facebook, you can stick to the same concept, and “Post a Note” – alerting your “Friends” and “Connections” of new information that you have to offer, aka, this week’s Real Estate Social Networking System topic.
So, how do you do this? First thing’s first. If you haven’t yet signed up for Facebook, be sure to sign up and create your profile. Those of us currently on it can attest to the idea that it comes very easily and you’ll start to find friends (and they’ll certainly find you) within hours.
Once you’re set up, you’ll see a tab that says Notes at the top above your profile (on the same line as “Wall” and “Info”). If you don’t see Notes as an option, press the + sign and it will drop down with an option to Add a Note. After you’re in the “Notes” screen, click “Write a New Note”
Title: This should be where you place the headline of the Real Estate Social Networking e-Article, such as “Top 5 Things to Know Before Putting Your Home Back on the Market”
Body: This is where you’ll paste the content of the article. Again, if you’re using last week’s topic, it should start with As a leader in real estate, I am repeatedly asked specific questions about today’s market – especially in today’s economy… and end with your name and contact info.
Photo: If you’d like to add your photo to this note, go ahead and upload it where you see that option. Otherwise, this is not mandatory, as when someone visits your profile, your photo can also be seen there. This is completely up to you.
Note Privacy: Facebook allows you to control who sees select information about you, including the items you post, such as this Note. You can select only your friends, friends of friends or everyone. We recommend “everyone” or “friends of friends” to keep it as viral as possible.
Preview your draft to make sure you don’t have any funky formatting, etc. Then, press “Publish.”
Once you press Publish, Facebook will alert you of a pop-up window asking if you want to publish to your wall and friend’s home pages. Press “Publish” again to accept, as that helps with the viral nature of the Real Estate Social Networking System.
Your note will then appear on your Wall and on anyone who you’re friends with home pages/feeds. People who view your Note can share it with others, etc. and it will still come back to you as the source! Have someone in particular you want to read it? You can share it with them and place it directly on their wall.
