Real Estate magazine recently interviewed Craig Proctor, Founder & CEO of Craig Proctor Productions to discuss why creating an agent team can be a valuable asset to a real estate business. While the team approach isn’t right for everyone, Proctor shares his success story as well as how the team concept allows real estate professionals to focus on their strengths.
If you are thinking about creating a team, it is crucial you go about the process correctly. “The first step to creating a successful team is to design the position before you hire the person,” says Proctor. This creates a business that is position-dependent instead of people-dependent, allowing for roles to be filled more quickly when team members move on. “Once positions have been created, you need to look for the right people to fill those positions,” adds Proctor. He suggests the first person you bring in be your opposite, so that your individual strengths compliment each others.
“If you take the time now to hire the proper individuals who will lead your business to success, you are ahead of the game,” adds Proctor. “Creating a team should not be a last minute decision- one that is made after the business has consumed your entire life and the multiple tasks you are juggling begin to fall through the cracks” he concludes.
