RISMEDIA, April 23, 2009-Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty, formerly Prudential Rand Realty and one of the Lower Hudson Valley’s leading real estate brokerages, has announced that it is merging with Century 21 Wolff, a third-generation firm that has long been one of the leading brokerages in the White Plains, N.Y., area.
According to the company, the merger brings 128 sales agents and offices in White Plains, Yonkers and Mount Pleasant (Thornwood) to Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty. Nick Wolff, Century 21 Wolff’s owner and a longtime icon in the Westchester real estate community, will join Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty as a business development consultant.
“We’ll be by far the most productive and the most dominant office, by market share, in central Westchester County,” said Greg Rand, managing partner with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty. “But perhaps more importantly, this merger represents a major validation of Rand Realty as a Westchester County real estate company. It represents our coming of age in Westchester County. We’re not the new kids on the block any more.”
Marsha Rand, the firm’s founder and CEO, agreed, saying: “I’ve known and respected Nick Wolff for years, so this partnership is a great honor. I look forward to working together with him as we seek ways for our combined company to continue to grow and thrive in the future.”
Nick Wolff said he and his wife, Aileen, were excited about the merger with the Rands, who they have known for years. “Aileen and I are thrilled to be reuniting with our old friends the Rands,” said Nick Wolff. “We are excited to be joining them as together we move ahead with the combined strengths of two great companies.”
As part of the merger, the two firms’ White Plains offices will be consolidated into Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty’s office at 1 North Broadway, while their Yonkers offices will be consolidated into Wolff’s office at 2254 Central Park Avenue. Wolff’s office in the Rosehill Shopping Center at 660 Columbus Avenue in Mount Pleasant (Thornwood) will continue to operate while assuming the Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty name.
When the consolidation is completed, Rand will have 20 offices in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties.
The merger is important to Greg Rand for many reasons.
“Second to my mom, Nick Wolff was my very first mentor when I entered the real estate business in 1990,” said Rand, whose firm was founded in Rockland County in 1984 and expanded into Westchester in 1999. “Nick Wolff is nothing short of iconic in Westchester County real estate. He’s been very active in the real estate industry and the White Plains community, so it was an honor that he chose to partner with us at this point in his life. We have the same philosophies and commitment to our customers and the communities we serve.”
