EcoVida Development Group Paves Way for Green Movement

RISMEDIA, September 11, 2010—Dane Jackman of Jackman Construction Inc. is planning to create a North Miami Beach home (EcoVida Smart Home) that will showcase the evolution of housing in South Florida, a “Smart House” that will help educate architects, home builders, students, home buyers, green advocates and real estate professionals about the innovative options available to those who choose to “go green” at home.

The EcoVida Smart Home will be a new, single story detached home located in North Miami Beach, South Florida. The 3-bedroom, 2-bath showcase home will have 1,726 square feet under AC with an attached 2-car garage, interior courtyard, green roof and a roof terrace to increase the living area and give a spacious feeling.

“The house will feature one of the most extensive uses of green building products and integrated “smart” technologies ever assembled in one demonstration house; to create a true Net-Zero, 100% energy-efficient and self-sustaining building,” said Dane Jackman, owner of the EcoVida Development Group. “While there are now numerous demonstration green homes throughout the nation, in Florida the few that exist are mostly confined to the northern half of the state. The small number of green homes in South Florida are either extremely high-end private residences that are unattainable by the vast majority of people, or are on the opposite end of the spectrum and are low income (in conjunction with local government).” There are no model green homes that truly cater to the working class (professionals from the ages of 25-45), which represents the largest market of current new homeowners and is the very same market that will find the EcoVida Smart Home the most appealing.

The EcoVida Smart Home is integrating three core design principals—green, smart and safe—to create a highly sustainable, intelligent and fortified home.

The project will not only receive LEED Platinum certification, but will also receive certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), Department of Energy’s Green Builder’s Challenge and Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS).

The EcoVida Smart Home is scheduled to break ground in January 2011. The team is currently in the process of signing up various industry sponsors. The home will remain open upon completion for home tours to help drive the message of sustainable living and consequently extend the exposure of a sponsor’s brand for a year after opening.
