RISMEDIA, March 22, 2011—One of the hallmarks of professional video is the steady, smooth results you get by using a tripod. But let’s face it—tripods aren’t always practical in every situation.
Things can become more difficult when you’re using one of those new palm-size camcorders. Their small size makes them convenient, but if you’re moving around while shooting, things can get a bit jerky.
An easy solution is to use a tripod as an extended handle off the bottom of the camcorder. Larger tripods make this a cumbersome process, but not so with smaller ones like this. They’re available for under $20.00 and attach easily to the camera, providing a convenient handle that not only helps stabilize the camera as you move about but also allows you to pay more attention to where you’re going.
They also make shooting smooth video less challenging—especially when filming a home video tour. And when you’re done, they’re also great for setting up on a table top or counter and filming a testimonial or interview.
Practice makes perfect—so spend a little time mastering the technique. You’ll get double duty out of your tripod, and have great looking video as well!
