Christine Todd Whitman was elected as Governor of New Jersey in November 1993 and was appointed by George W. Bush as Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in January 2001. She resigned from the EPA on May 21, 2003. Since 2004, Ms. Whitman has headed the Whitman Strategy Group, a lobbying/consulting firm with offices in New Jersey and Washington DC. Since 2006, she has consulted for the Nuclear Energy Institute, promoting nuclear power as the co-chair of the industry-funded “Clean and Safe Energy Coalition.” In January 2008, Ms. Whitman was named a co-chair of the Aspen Institute’s Health Stewardship Project.
