Hilary Lists Swanky Pad
In between shooting her two newest films—“Mary & Martha” and “You’re Not You”—Hilary Swank has recently listed her L.A. home for just shy of $10 million.
The super-luxe, three-story Mediterranean-style home, built in 1928, features six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and swoon-worthy ocean views. Despite being located in the mild Pacific Palisades, the property includes six fireplaces, and the RIS staff has been dreaming about the dinner parties that may have been held in the massive dining room with seating for 20. Other classy amenities include a home theatre, wine cellar, gym and maid’s quarters.
The two-time Oscar-winning actress originally bought the home in 2007 for the comparatively marginal price of $5.8 million. What’s the reason behind the property’s big price boost? Swank had her pad restored by well-known California architects Mark Appleton & Associates along with NYC designer Mark Zeff.
Michael Strahan Sells Hermosa Home
Michael Strahan has been one busy guy. On top of co-hosting the beloved daytime talk show “Live!” with Kelly Ripa (See you later, Regis!) and speaking at RISMedia’s Power Broker Event in November, Strahan recently sold his LA townhouse for $1.725 million.
The former NFL superstar and Fox football analyst originally listed the property, located in the posh Hermosa Beach area, for $1.849 million in August 2012, just before he officially landed his spot on “Live!” Perhaps the commute from LA to New York was a bit much. We don’t blame you, Michael!
Despite being only two floors, the 2,560-square-foot home features an elevator, as well as two living rooms, two master suites and a roof-top deck. Strahan purchased the property in 2005 for $2.2 million.
Larry Hagman’s Solar-Powered ‘Heaven’ House
The former home of “Dallas” star Larry Hagman is still up for grabs after the late actor’s death in November of last year. Located in Ojai (60 miles northeast of LA), the home was nicknamed “Heaven” by Hagman’s wife, and boasts a five-car garage and a Harley Davidson planted in a gathering room for guests to gawk at. Our favorite feature? Separate solar systems for the main residence, well and caretaker’s home. Thanks to all of this power sourcing, Hagman’s annual electric bill reportedly went from $37,000 to $13. Talk about going green.
Speaking of green, potential buyers can also find 200 avocado trees planted behind its iron gates. “Heaven” also features an 18,000-square-foot main house, sliding glass door walls, private helipad, an indoor spa and a retractable roof over a 40-foot saltwater lap pool which can accommodate up to 200 guests at a time. Oh, and also some ocean, mountain and valley vistas. Not too shabby.
John Krasinski’s California Country Hideaway
Following recent eco-friendly trends of the stars, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt purchased a $2.15 million mansion in Ojai last summer. The couple’s second home is way more secluded than Krasinski’s West Hollywood pad and you know what that means: less paparazzi when he is taking a break from “The Office.”
The home sits on the site of the original Ojai hotel, which was the primary reason the area became a popular getaway from the busy city of Los Angeles. Krasinski and Blunt have four bedrooms and 5.5 baths in their 4,177-square-foot home, built in 1982. It’s powered by solar energy with access to well water—bonus! The couple can also invite friends over to use their special guest wing, one of four fireplaces, three-car garage and pool/spa combo.
