(MCT)—Actor and writer Tyler Perry has sold his tricked-out home in the celebrity-studded Bird Streets area of Hollywood Hills West for $11.25 million, public records show.

The impeccably decorated 9,725-square-foot contemporary features a glass-floor catwalk that serves as the ceiling of the wine cellar, a window in the billiards room that looks into the water of the swimming pool, a nightclub/lounge with a bar and a disco ball, a gym, four fireplaces, four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a sauna. The site, which is more than a third of an acre, has expansive city light and mountain views.

Perry, 43, is known for his recurring role as a larger-than-life elderly woman named Madea. His Madea films include “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” (2005) and “Madea’s Witness Protection” (2012). He created the television series “House of Payne” (2006-12) and has done extensive work as a director and producer. Forbes estimated his net worth in November at $400 million.

He paid $9.6 million for the property in 2006.

Production Closes in Brentwood

The Frank Gehry-designed Schnabel House in Brentwood has changed hands for $9.5 million.

The seller is Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Jon B. Platt, who restored the home, according to Los Angeles Times archives.

Gehry, whose works include the Walt Disney Concert Hall downtown, is known for his “deconstructionist” style of architecture.

Built in 1989, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence has been described as “a village that looks inward.” There is a main house, an office, a guesthouse and a garage-and-gym structure with a breezeway. The half-acre of grounds include a reflecting pond, a swimming pool and an olive orchard.

Platt spent about five years on the renovation work. Among his credits are “Angels in America,” “Wicked” and “The Book of Mormon.”

Public records show the property previously sold in 2006 for $9 million.

Writing Himself Out of a Scene

Actor-screenwriter Billy Bob Thornton has sold his estate in Beverly Hills for $8 million.

Built in 1929, the 11,012-square-foot Spanish-style mansion retains its period details and features a two-story living room, a recording studio, a gym, a library, nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The walled and gated property of more than half an acre includes a swimming pool, a spa, fountains and a paddle tennis court.

Thornton, 57, directed, wrote and starred in the movie “Sling Blade” (1996), for which he won a best screenplay adaptation Oscar. Last year he directed, co-wrote and appeared in “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” and starred in “The Baytown Outlaws.” His upcoming films include “Parkland” and “Red Machine.”

The blues singer-songwriter has released several albums. He is also the author of “The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts,” published last year.

Thornton bought the property in 2000 for $3.75 million, according to public records.
