Mike Staver is going on a bit of a road trip. Throughout the course of 41 days, Staver is traveling more than 12,000 miles around the perimeter of the continental United States. Along the way, he’s making eight pit stops—speaking engagements where he will teach real estate companies about leadership, high-performance culture, and how to manage change. Did I mention he’s traveling by Harley?
During his first-ever “Full Throttle Leadership Tour,” Staver is combining two of his passions into one ambitious work trip. Departing from Fernandina Beach, Fla., Staver plans on riding counter-clockwise around the country, up the eastern seaboard, through Maine, and across the northern part of the U.S. He’ll circle down and finish back where he started in Florida. Some of his scheduled stops include the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, New Orleans and more. He’ll ride 350 miles a day on average, with his longest day maxing out at 565 miles. At 50 miles per hour, he’ll be spending approximately 10 hours a day on his bike.
“I wanted to do something of significant impact and something unique. Plus, I get to work with a lot of cool real estate leaders, and I wanted to do something different,” says Staver, CEO of The Staver Group and Chief Learning Officer for Institute, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World’s® robust online educational platform for sales associates and leaders. “I thought I ought to stop and work with people and share with them what I’ve learned riding a Harley around the U.S. and how it relates to what folks do in their jobs as leaders around the country.”
Parallels found between the challenges leaders face every day and Staver’s experiences on the road will serve as foundation topics for each stop on the tour. In addition, he plans to cover the following leadership topics during his coaching sessions:
