Video on How to Prevent Listings from Being Used in Rental Scams
Real estate professionals in nearly every state have reported that their listings have been scrapped or hijacked by scammers and posted on rental websites such as Craigslist, Hotpads, Vacation Rentals By Owner, and others. In an effort to help REALTORS® defend against having their listings used by scammers, NAR created a short video explaining useful tools and tips for brokers and agents. This short video guides listing agents through steps to set up Google Alerts and IFTTT (If This Then That) Recipes to monitor listings. It also demonstrates how to conduct a search using Google Images to find all the places where property-listing photos appear online.

Today’s business and regulatory environment requires brokers to have in-depth knowledge of a variety of laws and regulations to stay out of legal trouble. From supervising agents to complying with disclosure laws to protecting listings, NAR works to arm REALTORS® with clear and accurate legal information.
