Approximately 90 software developers attended the inaugural event, and 15 of the 25 competing teams were able to present working applications by the deadline. In addition to Real Kick taking top honors, the four runners-up were:
• Rent or Buy: A one-click market analysis app that compares the cost of renting vs. buying, then displays available properties in the area. Shake to show different neighborhoods.
• Home or Not: Like Hot or Not for real estate home searches.
• Curb Call: Like Uber, but for real estate home showings. Find a home on the app and get connected to nearby agents. First agent to claim it gets the lead.
• Abode: Shrinks the time it takes for an agent to enter a listing online. Creates a marketing website for the property right from an agent’s phone.
In aggregate, the Retsly data platform provided developers access to approximately 2 million property listings during the two-day event. Retsly used data feeds from some of the nation’s largest multiple listing services and the proprietary listings databases of Realogy’s residential real estate franchise brands: Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, CENTURY 21, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, ERA Real Estate and Sotheby’s International Realty. Participating MLS associations include California Regional Multiple Listing Service, Midwest Real Estate Data, Sandicor, Connecticut MLS, InterMountain MLS, and MLSListings.com.
The judging panel included industry leaders such as: Russ Bergeron, CEO of Midwest Real Estate Data LLC (MRED); Annie Ives, CEO of TheMLS; Ray Ewing, CEO of Sandicor Inc.; Cameron Paine, CEO at the Connecticut Multiple Listing Service, Inc.; and Realogy’s Alex Perriello.
