Regional spotlight—For potential sellers living in New England, the market forecast shows that they should consider listing their homes now, instead of waiting for spring, because of the increased demand for inventory. That’s according to the RE/MAX of New England January Monthly Housing Report.
In Connecticut, the number of total transactions is up 14.1 percent year-over-year, while the median price is also up 1.1 percent.
Massachusetts experienced a 16.6 percent jump in total transactions year-over-year. The median price increase of 5.7 percent is also the largest year-over-year increase in New England.
In New Hampshire, home transactions increased 19.2 percent year-over-year, while the median price remained relatively flat, down just -0.3 percent.
Rhode Island posted the largest year-over-year gains in total home transactions in New England, up 29.4 percent.
Vermont experienced modest growth in both total transactions, up 3.6 percent, and median price, up 1.6 percent, year-over-year.
