Mobile Real Estate, Inc. (MRE), one of the industry’s most advanced mobile solutions providers connecting real estate brokers, agents, and advertisers with local home buyers, has hired technology industry veteran Kate Berg as CEO, the company has announced.
MRE founder and chairman John Lim identified Berg as the right leader for his six-year-old company, based on her record of advancing business and valuation objectives for her own and others’ businesses during her 20+ years as an entrepreneur in the technology and media industries.
“Kate has a strong background in mobile technology and the operational experience in both start-ups and large businesses that we need at this time in our growth cycle,” Lim says. “Our goal has always been to help real estate professionals capture and convert today’s mobile consumer. Kate has the proven ability to drive growth to help MRE build on that success.”
With a wide-ranging list of broker clients including the largest Century 21 franchise in the nation, MRE has been on the forward edge in an industry that has discovered the power of mobile in driving revenue. A recent survey from The Real Estate Book shows that 68 percent of prospective homebuyers who use mobile devices say they had contacted a real estate professional to view a home based on their mobile search.
Prior to MRE, Berg was President of Collective Bias, a shopper social media company named one of Forbes 100 Most Promising Companies in 2012 and 2013. As president, Berg directed the early development of the company and laid the foundation for rapid growth, achieving 100+ percent revenue growth in 2011 and 2012. She also led the company’s Series A fund raise for $10.5MM, which closed in March 2013.
An early player in mobile and social media, Berg is passionate about technology and in 2004 and 2007 built two funded ventures in this space. Berg’s earlier career accomplishments include building the global PR division for Gartner, Inc. and creating the global analyst relations function for KPMG Consulting. In 2010, Berg was named one of Mobile Marketer’s “Mobile Women to Watch.”
