Colorado Springs New Homes: D-11 is for Donating

While this has little to do with Colorado Springs New Homes Real Estate, I feel like this is an important story worth highlighting because of its reflection on our community. There is a saying along the lines of “When we give, we receive,” meaning there is joy and intangible benefit in being selfless. With the holiday season upon us, this comes to the forefront of our minds, but at Colorado Springs New Homes we believe this type of attitude ought to be practiced year round.

So you’ll understand our excitement when we read this recent story from The Gazette. Our local Colorado Springs School District 11 is donating thousands of dollars in school supplies to schoolchildren in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Mexico. Furniture, several vehicles including buses, and a piano are heading to schools “in dire need of basic equipment,” according to school board member Tom Strand, who recently visited the schools in Nuevo Casas Grandes. Incidentally, the story reports that the donations wind up being a good deal for taxpayers, as “it costs more in labor to dismantle the items for scrap than to donate them.”

Nevertheless, the real story here is the generous donation of District 11. On behalf of Colorado Springs New Homes, I’d like to thank the district and its board members for making this donation and helping to enhance the education experiences of the schoolchildren in Nuevo Casas Grandes.
