Some healthy news from Colorado Springs New Homes Real Estate courtesy of the Colorado Springs Business Journal. A $1 million pledge from the Colorado Trust is set to “boost school-based health centers” in many of Colorado’s secondary schools. The money will help support• physical exams and immunizations
• outpatient mental health and substance abuse help
• dental exams and health education
Additionally, $250,000 has been set aside to “support a School Health Leadership Task Force to create a comprehensive plan to strengthen the system of integrated school health.”
According to Bob Guernsey, director of the school-based health center program at the state’s department of health, Carmel Middle School in Harrison District 2 is the only school with a clinic in El Paso County, and as such will be the only school relative to Colorado Springs new homes to receive funding. Regardless, any improvement in any school district in Colorado Springs is important to the value of the Colorado Springs new homes neighborhoods in that area, and the improvements provided by the clinics cannot be overlooked, as the clinics help to “[sign] children up for the child’s health insurance program and [provide] basic medical care,” according to Guernsey.
