A call to action from Colorado Springs New Homes Real Estate: the children are our future, or, in this case, young professionals are our future, and they don’t feel very good about their career future in Colorado Springs. This according to a report from the Colorado Springs Young Professionals and a post on the Colorado Springs Business Journal Blog. According to the blog, the report shows “young up-and-comers believe there’s a lack of professional career opportunities in Colorado Springs.” Among the significant findings:• “58 percent of the survey respondents said they moved to Colorado Springs for a job opportunity”
• Yet only 43 percent “ranked the city as ‘neutral’ for providing professional opportunity to for people their age”
• And only 27 percent “said they plan to stay in Colorado Springs for more than 10 years”
At Colorado Springs new homes, we see this survey as being indicative of the strength of our city’s economical future. If 63 percent of our current young professionals are going to leave Colorado Springs in the next 10 years, we either have to find a way to get them to stay, or we have to hope for a stock of out-of-city recruits to make their way to Colorado Springs. But if the young professionals already here do not think their career outlook is very bright, how are we to convince outsiders that they would have a bright future here? So I suppose we need to help generate an environment conducive to brighter career outlook here in Colorado Springs, and I think once our housing market finds its rebound point, our economy will become more stable, generating more jobs and therefore more interest for our young professionals. Just some thoughts from our end here at Colorado Springs new homes.
