To know Dallas is to love this wonderful city. The Convention and Visitor’s Bureau recently introduced a new city slogan entitled ”Live Large. Think Big”. And like we’ve all heard so many times before, “Everything is bigger and better in Texas”. As much as I don’t want to dissappoint you, this is not always a true statement. I will agree however that the homes, neighborhoods, and communities are often quite large in size and built in grand style along beautifully choreographed streets with artistic, cultural touches that surprises many first-time visitors.
Some of the local communities that are sure to amaze even the most discerning critics are:
• Highland Park/University Park – Highland Park is the 41st wealthiest city in the nation and 19th wealthiest with a total population of more than 1000 residents. Highland Park and University Park comprises the Park Cities area. The majority of these luxury homes are constructed in grand-scale proportions. The community is wildly popular due to its close proximity to downtown Dallas, shopping, and exemplary-rated school district. This upscale area was designed by landscape architect David Wilbur Cook who also planned the layout of Beverly Hills, California.
• Downtown – live, work, and play in downtown Dallas. There area approximately 30,000 residents in this small 1.3 square mile area. This area consists of major corporations, small businesses, retail, and neighborhoods such as Deep Ellum, Bryan Place, Uptown, and The Cedars. Homes, condominiums, lofts, and townhouses make up the real estate in this bustling community.
• Lake Highlands – this neighborhood with rolling hills is mostly located north of the White Rock Lake area, east of I-75 and south of I-635 within the Richardson Independent School District.
