Dallas Texas Real Estate News | Mosey Down to Dallas | Search MLS
There is an abundance of perks to living in Big D. Even though Dallas is the ninth largest city in the United States and the third largest city in the State of Texas, it still has a small town attitude. People are friendly, welcoming, and willing to lend a helping hand their neighbors. Another benefit is Dallas’ relatively mild climate. The average temperature in this Southern city is 96 degrees in the summer and 36 degrees in the winter with an annual average of 232 days of sunshine. Because of the pleasant conditions, Dallasites can hike, bike, or play golf on one of the hundreds of courses across the area. Even though there are few days that are extreme squelchers, the kids can play outdoors or engage in most activities of their choice most of the year.
This brings us to the most significant benefit to living in Dallas: a lower cost of living. You will notice that your hard-earned dollar stretches farther in some important financial areas. For instance, a home buyer can purchase a larger and often times newer home for the money. Texans also do not pay state income tax, gasoline prices are approximately 15-20 cents per gallon below the national average, and going to the market costs about ten percent less than other states. Residential and commercial real estate in Texas is on average less expensive in comparison to other states such as Arizona, California, Washington, and Florida to name a few. As a result of the lower cost of living benefits, a large number of corporate headquarters call the Dallas/Fort Worth area home. Some of these company camps include American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Blockbuster, Pier 1 Imports, Gamestop, and Frito Lay. Yet others such as Comerica are announcing their headquarter relocations to the Lone Star State.
