Downtown features our super Aquarium, the Children’s Museum and nearby theDenver Museum of Nature and History plus out outstanding Denver Zoo.Where else will you find in one convenient location of the city a newer Football stadium, (INVESCO Field at Mile High where our Broncos play) or the beautiful newer Pepsi Center home to the Nuggets Basketball team and our Avalanche hockey team plus incredible concerts and our amazing newer Coors Field home to our World series bound Rockies baseball team. Not to mention my all time favorite outdoor concert venue called Red Rocks Amphitheater.
There is so much to see and do in the nearby mountains and everything is so close whether you plan to ski or hike in Keystone/Breckinridge, Copper Mountain,Vail or Aspen it is all so very easy to get there from Denver. America’s largest scheduled passenger ski train is beginning its 68th season offering a train experience through the dramatic peaks of the Rockies. Skiers and sightseers alike enjoy a day at Winter Park/Mary Jane Resort, one of Colorado’s most popular winter destinations.Arapahoe Basin one of my all time favorites is situated high on the Continental Divide. It offers the highest skiable terrain in North America and views from the top of the world. We think of A-Basin as a unique place where it’s all about the skiing and riding.
Arapahoe Basin stands out from the other 24 resorts in Colorado because of its outstanding terrain, abundant snowfall, laid back atmosphere, unique history and springtime festivities. These are just a couple of the great resorts located less than an hour from Metropolitan Denver. You can golf in the morning and ski in the afternoon and still be back to enjoy an elegant dinner in downtown Denver.
Denver has long strived to acquire a grown-up metropolitan feel, and the results of those efforts are seen everywhere. In addition to great museums, thriving neighborhoods, a flourishing arts scene and an ethnically diverse population, Denver boasts a happening downtown core full of restaurants, clubs, boutiques, galleries and packed sidewalks.
Thankfully, though, the city remains in touch with its mountain style roots and the occasionally reckless frontier town feel of not so long ago. Historic buildings and preservation districts abound. Denver’s commitment to maintaining open space can be seen in its outstanding park system as well.
