In my last entry, I talked about the major technology upgrades RealtyBid.com recently implemented, and I focused on an enhancement that we feel is making a real impact for our clients and customers already. That upgrade is the implementation of state-of-the-art information display technology that enables those viewing RealtyBid.com property bid pages to see the most up-to-date information. This enables them to evaluate bidding action for online home auctions on a second-by-second basis. No other online bidding websites have implemented this advanced technology.
Another technology advancement that RealtyBid.com has recently implemented is the addition of the Microsoft Virtual Earth mapping system on the bid page of each property up for auction. The use of the Microsoft Virtual Earth presents visitors with the ability to see exactly where each property is located via a detailed map view or via a “bird’s eye” aerial view. The “bird’s eye” view can be rotated to show a 360 degree view of the property, and the aerial view provides visitors with a satellite image of the property and the surrounding area.
RealtyBid.com’s Microsoft Virtual Earth function also provides driving directions to the property from any other U.S. address and can provide a hybrid view combining the map view and the bird’s eye aerial view.
Bidders and other interested visitors need only click on the “Map It!” link on a particular property’s bid page to send Microsoft Virtual Earth into action directly from the RealtyBid.com website.
Though we’ve recently implemented several major technology upgrades, we are constantly looking to improve the RealtyBid.com experience for our clients and customers. According to our chief technology officer, JR Zeringue, one upcoming feature that our technology department is working on involves providing potential bidders and other interested visitors with pertinent demographic and community information via each property’s bid page. This information would include information about schools, retail development, local government and industry, and other information important to those contemplating buying property in a specific area.
