Niche Markets: Resort and Second Home Specialist
Whether they are looking for an investment property, a vacation getaway, or a place where they hope to eventually retire, buyers in the resort or second home market deserve an eminently qualified agent – an agent who not only appreciates the region’s amenities, the strength of its economy and resale trends, and the quality of local schools and healthcare, but who understands and is committed to working within the client’s personal and financial goals.
It’s a tall order, but a rewarding opportunity for specialists in the resort and/or second home market, who can enjoy the region’s charms firsthand while helping others bring their dreams to reality. As important, being certified in this growing specialty area can bring your buyers an extra measure of confidence.
The Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation is an official certification developed by the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Certification ensures buyers and sellers that you have the data, the interest, and the specialized know-how to help them buy, sell, or manage properties for investment, development, retirement or second homes in a recreational and/or vacation destination.
NAR members with an RSPS designation will have completed the ‘Home Sweet (Second) Home: Vacation, Investment, Luxury Properties’ course offered through NAR, either online or in a classroom setting.
Once certified, the agent gains the right to use RSPS logos and marketing materials, receive monthly e-newsletters, and participate in quarterly webinars on investment, second-home, and vacation property issues – all designed to give you an edge on competitors and help you take your business to the next level.
RSPS designees are also eligible to join the private RSPS Facebook group for networking, with access to RSPS press releases, referral forms, marketing materials and more.
Few real estate professionals can be all things to all people. Many of the most successful have identified a market niche they enjoy and focused their efforts in making it work to advantage.
For agents with access to ranchlands, beach properties, golf communities or mountain retreats – or any area of potential interest to second home seekers or savvy investors – having the RSPS logo after your name may open new doors and lucrative options.
