Labout, Cowperthwaite, Osnowitz and Wolf assume top posts
RISMEDIA, Nov. 17 ? The Colorado Association of REALTORS? (CAR) elected and installed its 2005-2006 leadership during the association?s annual convention in Colorado Springs in October. The 25,000-member trade association selected Michael Labout as president, Kit Cowperthwaite as president-elect and re-elected Carolyn Osnowitz as treasurer.
Michael Labout, president, has held a variety of positions with CAR including Political Survivor Fund (PSF) Trustee and Chairman, Southeast District vice president, Member Services vice president and Technology Division vice president. In 1993, Labout received the Political Service Award for his efforts and work with the PSF and Governmental Affairs Committees. The Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS? recognized Labout with the Classics Award for five consecutive years in a row, and inducted him into its Hall of Fame. In 2001 he was recognized by the Colorado Springs Business Journal as one of the ?Top 25 Most Influential People in Colorado Springs Real Estate.? Labout is one of the founding members of ERA Shields Real Estate in Colorado Springs where he specializes as a residential broker associate.
Kit Cowperthwaite, president-elect, has served Colorado Association of REALTORS?, the Denver Board of REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS? in various capacities including CAR director from 2003 to 2005 and chair of the state REALTOR? Political Action Committee in 2005. Cowperthwaite was profiled by the Denver Business Journal as one of Denver?s leading residential real estate professionals. His clients have described him as ?going beyond the norm? in his efforts to protect their interests. A fourth generation Denver native, Cowperthwaite is a broker with Distinctive Properties LTD specializing in residential sales.
Carolyn Osnowitz will be serving a second consecutive term as treasurer of the association. She was a CAR director from 1999 to 2003 and the association?s Southeast District vice president. Osnowitz has served as chair of the Professional Standards and Technology Committees, and as a member of the Finance Committee and the State Convention Committees. She is divisional vice president of Law and Policy for 2004. Osnowitz is a past president of the Women?s Council of REALTORS? and the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS?, where she was awarded the local ?REALTOR? of the Year? award. She is a broker with Re/Max of Pueblo-Central specializing in residential sales.
In addition to installing new state leaders, Bruce Wolf, a broker with Prestige Real Estate Group in Denver, was installed as the 2006 National Association of REALTORS? (NAR) Treasurer during NAR?s Annual Convention in San Francisco, California in late October. He is the first REALTOR? member from Colorado to serve in this capacity for the largest trade association in the country.
As NAR Treasurer, Wolf will oversee the financial aspects of the association?s numerous services and products and political lobbying efforts on behalf of 1.2 million members.
Wolf has been active in the REALTOR? community more than 30 years and has held almost every responsible position, including President, in his local association, the South Metro Denver REALTOR? Association. For his efforts, he was named local ?REALTOR? of the Year? in 1986.
Wolf?s accomplishments at the Colorado Association of REALTORS? include serving as a Director since 1993, Treasurer for three years (1993-1996), President-Elect in 1997 and President in 1998. He has received many awards including NAR?s Omega Tau Rho Award and CAR?s ?REALTOR? of the Year Award? for 2001.
At the National Association of REALTORS?, Wolf finished serving a very prestigious 3-year Presidential appointment to the Finance Committee.
Wolf was appointed by Governor Owens of Colorado to the Real Estate Commission for a three-year term in 2004. He and his wife, Mary, reside in Littleton; they have three children and seven grandchildren.
