RISMEDIA, April 29, 2008-Prudential California Realty President and CEO Steve Rodgers recently attended an awards ceremony in New York City honoring his longtime friend and mentor, the legendary Marshall Goldsmith. At the ceremony, Goldsmith was presented with the Harold Longman Award for “Best Business Book of 2007,” titled “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There.” The award was bestowed by Soundview Executive Book Summaries, a global leader in business content summarization.
“It was a thrill to be with Marshall as he accepted this prestigious award,” said Rodgers. “He has helped me in my growth as an executive and in my leadership at Prudential California Realty, and this book has had a particular impact on me. I gave it as a gift to all of my managers last year!”
Held on February 8 in The Sky Lounge of the Atelier, in the Chelsea district of New York City, the reception gave Rodgers a chance to show his appreciation to Goldsmith, his longtime friend and mentor. “Marshall asked me if I would like to attend the ceremony, so my wife and I immediately got on a plane for New York City,” said Rodgers. Also present at the cocktail party and event were notables including top CEO’s, members of the press and other authors.
Goldsmith’s book, “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There,” discusses the idea that “business as usual” will not work in today’s business climate.
“I love the way Marshall’s book challenged me and my team into realizing that resting on our laurels is a big mistake,” continued Rodgers. “The things that have brought us success in the past will not necessarily lead us where we want to go next.” Published by Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier, Inc., the book’s back cover features testimonial quotes from the likes of J.P. Garnier, CEO of GlaxoSmithKline and Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Company.
